Opening Reception of Iconography of the Early Anthropocene
June 2 @ 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Join us for the opening reception of Iconography of the Early Anthropocene by Rees Perry June 2 from 5pm – 8pm at the Refinery Creator Space.
These new works are the result of mining the current collective consciousness to form a developing narrative of a posthuman culture. Blending elements of human origin stories, pop-science, conspiracy theories and medieval heraldry, the images speak through their symbology and are laden with satire. An uncanny saga is viewed as if from the distant future.
Rees Perry graduated in 1989 from the Ringling School of Art & Design in Sarasota, Florida, with a focus on illustration and printmaking. Rees has maintained a working studio in the Asheville area since 1990, where he experiments and hones his skills — always chasing the ideal of the perfect iconography for now.
