Kitty Love named new Executive Director

The Asheville Area Arts Council is excited and proud to welcome Kitty Love as new full-time Executive Director! Kitty will start work next week, so come by to say hello and welcome her to the organization.

Kitty Love has been an Asheville resident since 1996 and most recently served as Executive Director for Arts 2 People. During her ten-year tenure at Arts 2 People, she founded and grew many successful initiatives, including the Lexington Avenue Arts & Fun Festival (LAAFF), the Asheville Mural Project, Responsive Education Accessing Creativity for Healing (REACH), and the Artist Resource Center.  Love is an active community member, serving on numerous committees including the Downtown Social Issues Task Force, the Downtown Commission and the Creativity Cluster for Buncombe County HUB.

The Board is excited about Kitty’s innovative vision for the arts in Buncombe County. She brings a wealth of experience as both artist and administrator, with a proven track record of community engagement, cultural development and outreach. The Board is confident in her ability to grow the organization to meet the needs of Buncombe County’s creative sector and to engage the community in the process.
