Opening Weekend for To Kill a Mockingbird
Wow! To Kill a Mockingbird opens this weekend (tomorrow night to be exact) and we are thrilled to raise the curtain on this American classic!
We guess that most of you know plenty about the story, the characters, and maybe even have a favorite line or two. But what makes our production unique is our stellar cast! Here’s the scoop!
+ 6 local students will share the roles of Scout, Jem, and Dill (Claire Amon & Lilly Donaldson, Copeland Timmer & Cade Wooten, Noah Clary & Henry Lathrop)
+ Phillip Packer, in the pivotal role of Atticus Finch, was last seen on the ACT stage in Camelot, also directed by Ralph Redpath!
+ Richard Hurley, an AB Tech Trustee who also penned and performed the hit ballad “The Ballad of Old Fort Mountain” is returning to the ACT stage (after a 15 year absence!) in the role of Sheriff Heck Tate.
+ Rev. Aubra Love, the Executive Director of Building Bridges of Asheville, is making her ACT debut in the role of Calpurnia.
+ Micah Mackenzie, the photographer voted “Best in WNC” in 2011 by the Mountain Xpress, is playing Tom Robinson
+ 7 ACT vets are back on stage – we’re so glad to see Kerry Shannon, Elaine Blanton, Honor Moor, David Quinn, Charlie Passacantando, McRae Hilliard and Roger Williams! (make it sooner next time, guys!)
+ 9 actors are making their ACT debuts – welcome to Russell Ledbetter, Hollis Anderson, Donnie Dalton, Pat LaCorte, Don C. Locke, Dennis Hill, Kelly Bryant, Scottie McCall, and Nan Patton!

Hospitality Suite Continues Run in 35below
Theatre goers in Asheville are loving Hospitality Suite! Here’s what the Asheville Citizen-Times had to say:
“Not enough praise can be heaped on local familiar actor Dan Clancy for his superb interpretation … This is a bravura performance … “[Mike] Vaniman does Phil perfectly” … “Zampella’s … a winsome and winning young actor”
That’s been echoed by our audience. Here are just a few comments we’ve received:
“We really loved Hospitality Suite …We talked about it all the way home last Saturday night … I will recommend it to all who will listen!” – D. Lloyd
“It was incredible, intense, funny, thoughtful … ” – A. McPherson
“Several of us were leaning forward on the edge of our seats as the intensity of the dialogue increased! What a great intimate venue!” – T. Roberson
Hospitality Suite is directed by Anthony Abraira runs tonight through April 28. Don’t miss it!
