Join the Asheville Area Arts Council on Saturday, August 27 for the Turquoise Ball, A Celebration of Our Unique Culture!

Established in 1952 as the Beaux Arts Ball, this fundraiser is a major source of revenue for the AAAC. 400 art supporters dressed in their finest turquoise regalia will fill the Orange Peel Social Aid and Pleasure Club on August 27, 2011 for Asheville’s most talked-about party of the year!

Proceeds from the Turquoise Ball directly support AAAC’s year-round programming, newly re-vitalized to enhance the capacity and impact of the local creative sector. The mission of the Asheville Areas Arts Council is to unify established creative professionals and organizations into a collaborative and thriving sector, to cultivate emerging grassroots entrepreneurs through direct financial support and access to opportunities, and to enhance the profile and visibility of our unique culture.

To fulfill this mission, AAAC offers programs that fulfill three main objectives:

UNIFY:  Through a comprehensive online directory and programs like the annual Creative Sector Summit, AAAC seeks to unify the entire creative community of Buncombe County.

SUPPORT:   By offering direct support such as the Grassroots Arts Program Grants to local nonprofit organizations and peripheral support through partnerships and cross-promotion, the AAAC strives to offer creative providers a stronger foundation for success.

ADVOCATE:  AAAC works with policy makers and other key figures in the Asheville area to ensure that the arts are a top priority in our community and that the creative sector receives financial and practical support from the local community.

The Arts Council awards more than $40,000 annually to local arts organizations through our grant programs. We provide arts resources through our website and our community arts facility in the Rivers Arts District to reach more than 20,000 community members and visitors annually. If you’re looking to contribute to the arts in Asheville and Buncombe County and the Asheville Area Arts council is the organization that will ensure your donation has a substantial impact.
