The Turquoise Ball
Click here to purchase tickets on the Orange Peel website.
The Orange Peel box office is located at 101 Biltmore Ave. in Asheville and is open Wednesday-Saturday noon-5:30pm.
This week look into Turquoise sales at The Grand Bohemian Gallery, The Honey Pot on Lexington Ave, and discounts at The Poseidon Spa leading up to the Ball!
After enjoying a “Turquoise Tango” cocktail with your meal at The Red Stag Grill, or signature cocktail from ace mixologist at The Junction (at Pink Dog Creative on Depot St.), and/ or stopping into the 5 Walnut Wine Bar to warm up for the main event head for the Orange Peel early to get the full experience…
As you and your fellow Turquoise revellers approach the Orange Peel look for Joe Tse and his dance crew performing out front with the City of Asheville’s new mobile art lab The EASEL RIDER (that’s right…) providing the sound!
When you enter, prepare to be greeted with various treats from the likes of the French Broad Chocolate Lounge (rumor has it the FRENCH BROAD HERSELF may be there!). The HOWLPOP installation directly ahead marks that you’ve arrived at the shores of The Aquaphonic Soiree (Orange Peel ballroom)… Take a deep breath and dive in!
Explore the creative process of members of the Fine Arts League of the Carolinas and settle in with complimentary wine or a micro-brew from The Wedge, Craggie, or Pisgah Brewing and a small plate of Mela, Boca, and/ or Ambrosia’s Delights among flower arrangements provided by Shady Grove.
Warming up with Franklin Keel & Friends’ classical strings and Barrett Smith’s adept guitar music, the angelic vocals of Sage Sansone will invoke The Turquoise Fashion Show featuring designs of Ship to Shore, Royal Peasantry, Unabashed Apparel, ReCyclone, West One Salon and Make Up at the Grove Arcade and more…
The smooth soul music of one of Asheville’s most gifted emerging artists, SANTOS will bless your ears leading up to the grand finale of the talent showcase, the ETERNITY urban dance troupe: a dozen young dancers moving in perfect sync to groove music.
Paper Tiger’s unique musical flavor takes over from there as the pure celebration unfolds and rounds out with the chameleonic versatility of DJ Marley Carroll.
Above it all, the Aerial Space Cadets will dazzle with acrobatic feats overhead, hanging from silks. And you know the dance party is in full swing when the Asheville Hoops Troupe brings their spiral designs into the mix.
Throughout the evening witness the video projection arts of Jason Scott Furr, visit Leanne Campagna’s painting station if you need extra touches to your turquoise embellishments, especially before you step into The Asheville Photo Booth for a few snaps! Or try your luck with the Turquoise Raffle, where you can win tickets to LEAF or Biltmore, free eye exam from Envision Eye Care, a statuette from the new Koi Koi international décor, gift certificates to True Blue art supplier,
VIP ticket holders can also step downstairs to The Peacock Lounge (PULP) for plush surroundings, gourmet foods, signature cocktails, and exclusive music including The Trevor Stoia Jazz Trio and more…
And if by midnight you’re not finished with your Turquoise experience, stroll around the corner to the STORM Rhum Bar and enjoy a “Caribbean Cooler” cocktail (with fresh kiwi juice? mmmmmm…), specials at Scully’s Bar & Grill, or free entry to dance parties at SCANDALS, Bobo Gallery, or ARCADE.
