October 5, 2018 – November 30, 2018

The Asheville Area Arts Council is excited to welcome Local Cloth’s Community Cloth into the Front Gallery, October 5 – November 30, 2018. Community Cloth is an interactive, educational and community-service exhibit of processes and techniques for creating beautiful, functional hand-made cloth.

Displays and hands-on activities will focus on sourcing fiber for yarn, making cloth and filling a need in the community for warm hats, scarves and mittens. Visitors will be invited to try their hands at spinning, knitting, weaving and stitching; attend related classes at Local Cloth’s studio; and make an item to contribute to the display during the course of the exhibit. Once the exhibit closes, all of the handmade accessories will be donated to a shelter for distribution to people in need.

An opening reception will be held on Friday, October 5, 2018, from 5:00 – 8:00 pm in the Front Gallery of the Refinery Creator Space.
