Arts & Wellness Veterans Showcase

Saturday, November 10 | 3:00 – 5:00 pm
$15 general public | $12 for veterans
The Asheville Area Arts Council was proud to launch the Arts & Wellness Program for Veterans in September 2017. This program serves as an alternative method of healing through art classes and workshops that provide avenues of expression that go beyond those traditionally offered. Through innovative collaborations with organizations and specially trained artists, we have brought together the creative arts to this unique population in support of their recovery.
Please join the AAAC at The Grey Eagle on Saturday, November 10 to celebrate the veterans and instructors who have participated in this exciting program. Don’t miss moving performances by the songwriters of Music of Veterans, a ceramics demonstration, and live poetry and creative writing readings by local veterans.
In addition to exciting demonstrations by the participants of the AAAC’s Arts and Wellness Program for Veterans, we will be joined by Black Box Dance Theatre, a company from Raleigh that brings a new and unique vision to dance. In a powerful performance called “Move to Action” led by veteran, composer, and dance collaborator, Alfredo Hurtado, the troupe will portray Hurtado’s poignant story.
All proceeds will help support the AAAC’s Arts & Wellness Program for Veterans.
Thank you to our generous sponsors:
