Veterans’ Juried Art Exhibition
November 2 – 30, 2018
Reception: November 2 from 5:00 – 8:00 pm
To recognize our local veterans and illustrate how the arts can build bridges between the military and civilian communities, we are hosting a 2018 Veterans Juried Exhibition. We will be highlighting the artwork of veterans in the Arts & Wellness program as well as veteran artists in the community.
Cash prizes will be awarded to Best in Show, Second, and Third Place, as well as for two honorable mentions, which will be selected by representatives of the AAAC and the Charles George VA Medical Center.
When the artists are selected, they will be featured on the Veterans’ Juried Art Exhibition webpage.
November 10, 2018
3:00 – 5:00 pm
@ The Grey Eagle
Celebrate the veterans and instructors who have participated in the Arts & Wellness for Veterans Program by attending the 2018 Veterans’ Showcase. Don’t miss moving performances by the attendees of Music of Veterans, a ceramics demonstration, and readings from those in the poetry and creative writing classes.
In addition these live performances by local veterans, we will be joined by Black Box Dance Theatre, a company from Raleigh that brings a new and unique vision to dance. In a powerful performance called Move to Action led by veteran, composer, and dance collaborator, Alfredo Hurtado, the troupe will portray Hurtado’s poignant story.
